Diana is the image of the Red Crayon Aristocracy. Meg may be the voice of the Princess, but Diana is every bit the force behind all decisions. Second only to the Prince and Princess, Diana's ego is a powerful thing. She is the oldest and, in some ways, the most mature of the group. Strangely enough, while Diana is at an age soon encroaching Clara's (Diana is somewhere between 12 and 14), she shows no sign of willingly entering the world of adulthood. Still, several notes in the game talk about how Diana always was striving to be more of an adult, how she tried to be a stronger person.

An integral part of the story revolves around attempting to belay Diana's wrath; she is the primary giver and decider of punishments. She reacts with snide, passive cruelty to most situations she finds herself in. At the same time, she is a seducer and manipulator, skilled at turning people against one another and situations on their head to make others suffer. This, however, seems to turn on her and be a factor in Hoffman's perverted obsession with her and Clara. While Clara is timid, shy, and quiet, Diana is more forceful, defiant, and holds a very regal air about her. It's possible that she's truly afraid of Hoffman; she sobs when he tries to make her admit what she's done wrong, getting too close to her comfort zone, but she's quick to play it off as an act.

In the game, everyone is given their own animal to be painted on their masks, and when the Imp enemies appear in games, they take the form of whoever's story is most prominent to the month/chapter/level. Diana has been associated with two animals: the rat and the fish. The rat has been painted on her mask only in the beginning as she beats a bloody burlap sack. She's shown at her cruelest here, and the sack face of the rat may symbolize her thievery and loyalty to the Princess' spiteful order. In the rest of the game, she is shown associated with the fish or mermaid.

Her chapter, the Mermaid Princess, involves finding an "unmarried mermaid" for the club. She chops off the bottom half of Hoffman's koi and then cuts a doll in half, attaching the torso of the doll to the fin. While most speculations point to reason that Clara us the focus of the chapter, Diana's wish to be an adult but still be an ideal woman is what traps her into the same description of "mermaid".

Finally, it's important to remember how brave she is. She hits people, destroys things, and even beats a puppy. While this is more horrible than anything little girls should be doing, she never seems to hesitate when it comes to the Princess' orders. She doesn't seem to feel any need for restraint, but prefers to draw punishments out and make them extremely painful.

This calls to question why Diana, for all of her power and prowess, would follow a sick and timid-looking girl like Wendy. While Wendy's outward personality to Jennifer and others is nothing but kind and sincere, the orders she commands and the angry letters to Jennifer dictate her otherwise. While it's not entirely clear whether or not Wendy frightened Diana into following her (the Stray Dog legend was the culprit for this irrational fear), there's one thing that remains uncertain.

In original trailers, Diana was pictured with a bandage strapped around her upper right thigh. This is never shown in the game, but it's always possible that Wendy hurt her, had Hoffman hurt her, or threatened something else with it. Either way, Diana humbles herself only for this girl, but still quickly turns on her in the end like the others with the strength and audacity to be unafraid of her any longer.
